design ideas for your acid stained floors. Would you believe that these floors that appear to be highly polished marble are less expensive than
tile or wood flooring?
Acid stained floors are
the stunning results of a chemical reaction between the acid stain and the concrete surface, creating a beautiful marbled, mottled, dimensional color effect. The rich color becomes a permanent part of the concrete, so can never peel, chip, or fade. The
acid stained floors are sealed with a sealer that resists scratches, stains, and chemicals, making them easy to maintain for many years. Acid stained flooring does not generate or harbor dust, fibers, smells, or allergens like carpet. There are no grout lines,
so you never need to clean with a special cleaner or
replace them,
common problems with tile floors. Mold isn't a problem
with acid stained floors because there is no place for mold to grow. Some of our previously completed
acid stained floors have been underwater for 12 hours without performance problems. When the water receded, the customers just mopped their acid stained floors and were on their way! Sealed floors are
also virtually stain-proof to the common things that usually stain carpet. This is only a partial list of the many advantages to acid stained floors.
In the event that your floor cannot be acid stained, we
have solutions
for that, too!
Want to try it yourself? Just interested in what to expect for a typical acid stain installation ? Check out our general stain application guide. This isn't a comprehensive guide that covers every
acid stain situation, but it sure is a good place to start! We also supply acid stains and sealers to contractors and DIY'ers.
The rugged beauty of your
acid stained concrete floor can be brought to life with any of a variety of
acid stain systems. We regularly use the following acid stains and recommend them highly - Stencil Systems, Decorative Concrete Supply and Kemiko. Slabs that are 50 years old and slabs that are brand new are equally good candidates for acid stain. We routinely pull up nasty, worn carpet and linoleum and successfully turn the concrete into an exceptional work of art!
Scoring can be
added to your acid stained floor to give a
sophisticated tiled look of any size and designs or logos can be
added. Borders are routinely used to add a touch of elegance or for visual
separation of rooms without interrupting the flow. A wide
range of decorative enhancements can be achieved with
scoring and acid stained floors. Why not just score a multi-colored rug
under the table?
Sealers are available in solvent or water based, matte or gloss finish, with or without texturant. We recommend texturant for any outdoor flatwork where slipping is a possibility. We can seal
your acid stained floor with a tough acrylic sealer for a lasting shine
or we can add a few coats of wax for the highest gloss with
easy maintenance!
